It’s a waste to just accumulate beautiful photos! Let’s publish it!
Therefore, we decided to release the photos that Fukuoka photographer KENRO sometimes sends us seasonal news as the “Around Fukuoka on Earth” series.
This time, the shrimp orchid was photographed in April. Because it is yellow, it seems to be Kiebine(Calanthe striata). I thought it was a rare flower that could not be seen around where I live, but I was told that Kiebine is the original species of shrimp distributed west of the Kii Peninsula, Shikoku, and Kyushu.
Kiebine (yellow shrimp root) is the original species of shrimp distributed west of the Kii Peninsula, Shikoku and Kyushu. It produces yellow flowers as the name suggests. It is the largest flowering variety among the original spring blooming species. When in full bloom, 10~15 flowers with a diameter of about 5cm are attached. It is an easy-to-grow variety, but it is vulnerable to cold, so it needs to be protected from the cold. Among the horticultural varieties that use Kiebine as a crossbreeding parent, there is “Takane”, which was born by crossing with Jiebine.

Even so, the time spent researching flowers is like meditating, and I feel calm.
